“We are for Benedict”  is an international movement of young Catholics, that’s officially constituted in St. Peters square on the morning of the solemnity of the apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul, June the 29th2012. Pope Benedict XVIth, on that occasion, greeted us with the following words:  “Assembled here are (…) the young Catholics who have spontaneously gathered as a group through the social network: thank you for your presence! Dear friends, I cordially thank you for this gesture of affection and for your initiative of support to my ministry and to favor in every environment a courageous and active Christian witness.”

We call ourselves “We’re for Benedict” because we’ve been inspired by the words of the Holy Father, in the XXVII Message for the World Youth Day where he spoke of a “tired and annoyed” Christianity: we want to be an active, energetic and courageous presence in the Church.

• Our objectives are:

1.To favor the presence of the youth in the life of the Church, through an active, visible

and courageous witnesses of the Christian faith.

2. To share ideas and experience of Evangelization, especially in the field of social justice that is

the true emergency of our time.

3. To create an awareness to Catholicism so that it rediscovers the pride of its own identity,

of which the Holy Father is the perennial sign of continuity.

4. To defend the Christian faith in the case of false, factious and instrumental attacks on behalf of

individuals, groups and political or media powers.

• Our methods are:

1. Awareness through the media and the social networks.

2. The evangelical way of non violence that doesn’t exclude, if necessary, confrontation.

3. Dialogue and collaboration with the Catholic associations.

4. The involvement of the young Catholics that live beyond the Italian borders.

– We’re a youth Movement open to the presence and support of adults.

– We’re a movement free from any type of political party connotation, but  we’re not indifferent to what happens in today’s society.
